Welcome to the first part of ‘Rumbled’, the weekly round-up of useful (and not so useful) sites I’ve stumbled upon this week. And yes, when I stumble upon a good site I StumbleUpon it too.
So here we go, in no particular order…
- T-Mobile Advert on YouTube – For those of you who haven’t seen it, this is a great ad doing the rounds in the UK at the moment. It’s like a viral on steroids. Great stuff.
- Superfish – I needed a lightweight jQuery drop down menu, and this is perfect. Once you get your head around the CSS skinning it really is perfect, and SEO friendly. I’ll be adapting this for one of our flagship sites soon, and will blog about how easy/hard it was.
- Script & Style – A new one to me, essentially just a collection of links. I probably prefer to stick to a couple of ‘zines like Smashing Magazine, but this is the sort of site that’s good to add to your RSS reader in case anything relevant turns up. Worth a look.
- ScreenToaster – I like this. Screenrecording and casting are simplified, with no downloaded software. Free to sign up but, as yet, no audio. Once they have added the ability to record sound it’ll be really useful.
- An introduction to jQuery – CSS Tricks have a couple of easy-to-undertstand jQuery tutorials, starting with this one. Highly recommend for the beginner.
- Life’s a beach, so make it a good one – Okay, so this is a shameless plug. Talk on Travel is a blog I run as part of my day job, and we started a thread on which are the best beaches in the world. You might also like The Best Bars in the World too!
- Monitter – You’re on Twitter, right?! Of course you are. But even if you’re not, Monitter offers a compelling insight into the world of the Tweople.
- Snipplr – This is a great idea. An open-source repository of code snippets from a variety of languages. Search on ‘jQuery’ and see what people have been up to. Useful and inspiring.
- Advanced CSS typography -Â This is a lovely article demonstrating some more advanced ways of styling text with CSS. You’ll be scrapping that 18pt Verdana in no time!
That’s it for this week. Rumbled will be back again in a weeks time.
And remember, all these sites and more can be found in my Stumbled Upon Favourites page.
Ranger, out.
